The main challenges included precise control of the heating elements for consistent product quality and integrating a reliable cooling system within the automated process.

OBJECTIVE:

To design and implement a fully automated electric tunnel kiln system for brake pad manufacturing, ensuring efficient operation and high-quality output.

SOLUTION:

  • Used a Siemens 1512SP F-1 PN PLC for robust control and safety features.
  • Employed a Siemens KTP1200 Basic HMI for effective visualization and user interface.
  • Utilized Gefran SSR relays for reliable heating element control.
  • Integrated chiller and pumps seamlessly into the cooling system.
  • Powered the conveyor system with SEW motors and Siemens frequency units for precise movement and control.

THE PROJECT COMPRISED OF:

Eltrex undertook the complete electrical refurbishment of two electric IR linear kilns for a client that produces premium braking pads in Romania.

The main activities done by our team were:

  • Create a P&ID diagram based on client requirements and mechanical construction of the oven
  • Conduct electrical design in E-Plan P8
  • Manufacture control cabinets
  • Build automation panels featuring a Siemens 1512SP F-1 PN PLC for control and safety
  • Integrate a Siemens KTP1200 Basic HMI for visualization
  • Control heating elements through Gefran SSR relays
  • Integrate chiller and pumps for the cooling area with our system
  • Install conveyor system using SEW motors and Siemens frequency units
